My husband and I are very happy with this backpack. We found it to be very comfortable and very spacious. Lots of different pockets for storage. Great price too. Thank you!!

After reading a lot of reviews on a lot of different brands, I decided to try out this pack for the summer. So far it has been exactly what I needed for quick trips! Super lightweight, comfortable, and allows easy access to different products. As a guy with a bigger waist, it does feel a little snug and hard to find proper positioning at first, but we got it figured

  3. Bryan (verified owner)

Great pack. Went on a 60+ mile, 6 day pack trip. Accommodated all my gear and then some. I even got to use the Rain Fly! Comfortable pack once you get it adjusted to your frame. The 2 other guys I went with had High dollar Osprey Packs & they complained the entire time about their traps hurting, I had no sore spots from this pack. Will definitely recommend to others. I agree with the other reviews of possibly adding a Molle webbing on the outside

  4. Rick (verified owner)

I really like it. The sleep bag fits well in the bottom pocket. There is plenty of space inside. The cover came in handy hiking back in the rain. Plenty of adjustable options. A number of pockets to choose from for storage of items.

    Its a great deal!!!!

I looked at more expensive options but decided to purchase the affordable River Country backpack based on the quality of the other products that I purchased from them in the past. I’ve been impressed with the quality and design of the pack. There is plenty of room and it’s easy to adjust for a comfortable fit.

I have just bought a second pack for my son. The only downs I have is I wish they had a bigger version (80L) and some outside MOLLE style webbing. Otherwise, it is comfortable, adaptable for body size, and well made. Finding this company has made it affordable to take my whole family backpacking (all but clothes and food) for the price of about 3 empty packs from other brands. With the prices of some brands, even cheaper. IE, I had to buy a well known brand to get a pack small enough for my youngest daughter, for a little less I got a pack, pillow, matt, sleeping bag, tent, and a shirt from RCP. All kid tested and father approved.

I think the value of this pack is amazing 5 star product at 2 star pricing. This pack is well constructed, but it is still comfortable and light weight. I really like the padding on the straps and the lower back. I recently purchased this along with the trekker tent 2v and I love them both so far, two items for the price of one!

  8. LY (verified owner)

So far the backpack feels solidly made. The quality seems better than the scout 3500 (that is a similar price on amazon.) First impressions are positive. Seems like the best backpack for the price! I’ve yet to test it in the field

  9. Lance Keys

This is my first backpacking pack, I didn’t want to spend too much for something that I didn’t use that much. I can easily pack all my gear for a 4 day trip and it supports the weight well. The sternum strap really is too short, so I knocked a star off and gave it a 4 star rating.

  10. Chris B. (verified owner)

A fantastic pack for the money. It is large, with several compartments that make for easy access to jackets, water, or flashlights. I particularly liked the built-in rain cover which is took only seconds to pull out and deploy when we started getting rained on during our most recent trip.

5 out of 5, would recomend.

  11. Keith Freerksen

This this awesome! Everything you could ask for in a pack but at a price worth paying! Very adjustable! Very comfortable. Very light as well. Yet feels durable. For real all the features of a $200 -$300 Osprey. Noice!

  12. Grant

I really enjoy the pack it is really super comfortable it holds plenty of gear for a 5-day Trek stitching is really good the detachable rain fly is really nice as well the whole pack is extremely nice I wish that the two front pockets were bigger they worked extremely well with my ravpower charger and small first aid kit and I love the side pouch on the hip waist my alcohol stove fits in it really well for backup the lid and top is big enough for my snow peak 700 and stove and a can of fuel and my UCO lantern and two extra candles

  13. Ben Tiller

Recently purchased this on Amazon for 3 day backpacking trip to WV wilderness area followed by 2 nights of car camping. Pack was loaded to slightly over 50 pounds (including water) and carried the weight well. Took some time to configure things and get everything in, but I’m also a bit of a backpacking newbie. Enjoyed adjustability of the straps and hip belt. Pack performed very well over some difficult trails. Got some light rain and everything stayed dry without using the included rain fly. Stayed very secure and stable on my back. Nice looking for which I received some compliments. All in all, a good quality pack.
    Cons:
Could use some better pockets on the exterior
Would love to see the addition of loops or something on the outside to attach other small bags or a bed roll (something like MOLLE webbing to make it more modular)
    Sternum strap was very short
Difficult if not impossible to reach water bottle on my own from the external side pockets
Kinda picky, but a stuff pocket would be nice
    Pros:
    Price
    Lightweight
Handled heavy load with plenty of room for gear
    Rain fly
    Nice color scheme
Load was secure during lots of movement

Customer service is outstanding. Pack is much higher quality than expected. Used it on a number of outings so far with no complaints. No hot spots and gets the job done well. Really much more than expected for the price.

  15. Kevin Clark

I just hiked 120 miles of Appalachian trail from Springer mountain to Winding Stair Gap. It was up and down mountain trails. Backpack worked as advertised. I had no problems with it. I liked all belts and straps and ease to operate. I carried 25 pounds of equipment and food. I will continue to use this pack on section hikes.

  16. Ed

Just received this pack and I am pleasantly surprised. Lots of 5 star reviews here and on Amazon. Now I see why. I loaded it up with a bunch of gear and then wore it around the house for a while. Very comfortable. Very well thought out design. Love the rain fly on the bottom. Great bang for the buck. Wasn’t expecting much due to the price but it exceeded my expectations. Will likely be buying other gear from RCP in the future.

  17. Lucas

I recently purchased this along with the trekker tent 2v and I love them both. This pack is well constructed and fits me well at 6’2″ I’m on the upper end of the torso length limit for this pack, but it is still comfortable. The padding on the straps is comfortable as well. I think the value of this pack is amazing.

The 65L backpacking pack is lightweight and durable, tons of storage space for overnight hiking with my wife.

  19. Andrew Leitz (verified owner)

I really love the backpack! Light weight and plenty of room. I am getting ready for a winter hike in the Ozark Mts, I have packed everything I will need and then some and still have a bit of room left. I like to go minimal so if you like to pack everything but the kitchen sink, then you might want get a bigger pack. All in all, what you get for 65.00 is good quality and reliability. I love the split waist belt, I didn’t think it would make that much difference . I’m getting ready to order the complete sleep system and I bet that will give me even more room and lighted my load. I would like to see maybe some Mollie loops for external storage. Other than that it is better than the 200.00 pack I had before.

  20. Alisha Raines (verified owner)

Great pack. We over packed them the first hike. They carry a lot of gear.

  21. Eric R Minkwitz

Great ultra light pack super adjustable and super comfortable !

I have to admit, I don’t have much experience with backpacks like these. However, I would still recommend this backpack to anyone. I went on a 5 day 4 night trip in Olympia, Washington. This pack was able to hold everything I want and more. I first spent $180 or more on a pack that was equivalent to this pack but it didn’t come with a built in rain cover. Definitely a perk, luckily I didn’t need it. I did notice some strings loose on the top big compartment, I would recommend handling those string pulls carefully. Even with all my tugging and pulling nothing ripped, which for the price I was kinda expecting. This pack with the price is unbelievable! Buy it now before they up the price LOL!!!
