I took this tent out for a multi day fishing trip with zero issues. First off for the money, this tent is worth it. It is very serviceable. If you want a simple single wall fully enclosed tent, this is very hard to beat. I have not tested the “waterproofing” from the factory, but the seams came taped well and looked just fine. Any tent in this price range will require some trial and error and potential work, however this tent is above expectations. I am a bit of a gear nut, and have probably 15 tents ranging from canvas wall to bivy style. I will be grabbing this tent when I go out again into the back country. It has ample room, and the awning that is built is provides a little bit of cover for things I do not want to bring into the tent. I am 5’10 and around 235 lbs. I am quite wide in the chest and feel that like this tent provides a palace of space. I can sit up almost upright without touching the tent walls. If you have ever spent time in a bivy this is way way roomier.
Pros:
Weight for cost – good luck finding a fully enclosed sleep system that provides this level of space at this weight and size that weighs less than 3 lbs and doesn’t add at least a zero at the end of the price.
quality for cost – it really is better than you think
interior room – its plenty. If you are smaller frame a medium dog would fit in there with you very comfortably. In a pinch and side sleeping two average smaller adults could stay alive in this.
adaptability and design – if you live where there are trees or you could run a line between two points you can set it up. Awning up or down.
awning – it has an awning, its not what I would call a vestibule because there is no “wall” surrounding it, but its pretty handy keeping your door space shaded and dryer.
quality stakes included – I mean they dont have to do it, but they do and I applaud it.
intuitive setup – even if you have never pitched a tent you could figure this out.
Cons
Materials – at this price the materials are what they are. They are not bad, but the floor is thinner. You may not need a ground tarp in the PNW, but here in the high desert where everything is sand rock and thorn you better have a ground tarp or sheet. I don’t remove a star for this because I knew what I was buying and it exceeded expectations.
Ventilation – the tent has ventilation at the head and foot that can be propped open to help circulate air. Is that a con, no, the design could have just been better. I feel that something built in to support the openings without me needing to find something in nature would be nice. Ironically sticks are not always laying around where I sleep. Again no star, because hey it has the vents there, and sooooo many don’t. Just wish the design was a smidge more independent of surroundings, but easy enough to work around.

Based on the price, ease of ordering, free and expedient shipping, instructions on the package, and inspection of materials. I am confident it cannot be lower than a 4.5. I ride a bicycle about 1000 miles per month and have needed something I can use with backpack. I will surely begin backpack camping as well.
I doubt I will ever need something fancier and I doubt I will have any experience in the near term that would lower the rating. If that happens, I will do so and also look silly for thinking I knew better (doubtful with this).
I will keep it in the car with rain gear, tools, and other supplies and use it as my only tent when I travel and work remotely on the road.
I am 6’2″ and 175-190 lbs, depending on so, so many things, but mostly beer consumption, muscle mass, and season.
As for waterproofing, there are always more considerations than what I saw in the comments.

Being taller than most, I had a hard time finding a tent that I could comfortably lay down in, one that wouldn’t cost me a fortune. a friend pointed me toward the Trekker 1A. I bought it from Amazon Canada. I haven’t had a chance to set it up yet, as it is winter here. I love how it’s lightweight, lighter than my camping hammock set up, and fits nicely in my backpack.

This is just the right tent for my needs. Setup is a very simple and quick. I really like the a-frame design, especially the mini awning over the entryway. Also, the color scheme is my favorite. In addition to this tent, I purchased River Country’s Rainfly Tarp. These two pieces of kit carried in my pack allow for many different setups. Highly recommend!

I used this tent on a 3 day, 140 total mile bikepacking trip where the weather dipped to about 34/36 over night and was in the 50s during the day.
First pack size you can ask for much else, it folds down into basically a Nalgene bottle and weighs very little.
I did strap some trekking poles onto my setup this time, but have some accessory poles that are lighter and more compact on order to use in the future.
I am 6’ and 215lbs and have room by the foot of my sleep pad to stash my bike bags at night. At the head is a nice pocket that held my phone, battery bank and chapstick securely.
There is a nice loop at the top of each end to attach a small light which was great.
The included stakes were surprisingly light weight and worked great.
The reason for Four stars is that the vent at the head and feet do not stay open. I had to use sticks to prop them open. And it also needs a vent on the back of the tent to allow some real air flow.
Overall it’s a good tent and I will be using it a lot more.

Nice little stealth tent good for a dry nights sleep and move on . Lightweight packs small , repurpose poles ,carve your own or of course use trekking poles . Only warning if your not very limber this might not be the tent for you. Plenty of sleeping room just not a lot of wiggle room. Money well spent for me .

I purchased my tent with the trekking poles included and it has served me well. After more than 30 days in the field this summer doing some desert archaeology, I’m pleased with how well this tent has held up, especially because it’s been some rough and tough work. The bathtub bottom has held up well both with a footprint and without. The construction of all the tie outs and steak outs is impressive for such an inexpensive tent.
I can fit all my gear at my feet. It’s just a little short to be super comfy.
I had some issues with condensation when there was rain, or if I slept with the fly zipped all the way. Thankfully it was warm enough to just sleep with the fly open so it wasn’t an issue most nights.
The trekking poles have held up well- both for tenting and trekking. I like the twist-lock adjustable height. Snow baskets are a bit small, but they are functional.
I did use some extra waterproofing spray (just a light coat around the seams), and I haven’t had any issues with leakage.
Overall, a FANTASTIC tent for the price, weight, and included features. I’d buy from these guys again in a heartbeat, although I’d probably opt for a taller 2-person tent.

I ordered this tent off amazon and used it for the first time last weekend up near Winter Park CO. Its a great tent, easy set up, and lightweight. I’m 5′ 10″ and I still had room at the bottom of the tent for my bag. There are many reviews complaining about it not being waterproof. But if you follow the instructions it came with, to seam seal the corners and seem tape, and spray the outside with Silicone water-guard you will be good to go. Even if you include the cost of waterproofing it is still hundreds of dollars cheaper than most ultralight tents. Definitely worth the buy!

I received this tent 2 days ago while I have not yet used this tent I have set it up to seal seams. I am so anxious to use this tent. It is exactly what I wanted and needed it is light weight and has plenty of room for me and my gear. The quality of this tent appears to be very good. The stakes are not the cheap flimsy pegs you get with other tents. As soon as I use this I will write a further review.

Nice little tent. set up is easy and intuitive. My only complaint is the same as many other reviewers: Tent leaks at the ridge loops. The loops appear to go from the outside,, through the seam to the inside, which wicks water into the tent no matter how much you seal it. To deal with this, I cut the outside loops off as close to the seam as possible and then sealed over that area with silicone sealer. I can live without those loops to know that the tent won’t leak. I also sealed inside seam where the velcro was sewn on as that had maybe a drop or so. So far, no leaks from the ridge loops or any drops from the velcro patches. Otherwise, the seams are sealed well. I did spray silicone spray sealer on the outside as recommended by River Country.

I purchased this tent for the Ice Age Trail. I needed light weight but I am a teacher and cant afford to spend $200 + for a tent. This thing is close to perfect! Wrapped up it is about half the size of my other 1 man tent and is half the weight as well even though it has a larger footprint.
I did seam seal and waterproof spray the tent but I’ve done that with every tent I’ve owned.
Frankly I wish I had had this for some of my other treks, would have made my pack and budget a lot lighter.

This tent is a bargain at its weight and features. You would have to spend over $200 to get a tent this light. I also have the Trekker 2.2. I am 6’ 2” and weigh about 215 and it fits me fine. Sets up easy and is definitely lightweight.

I just received my new Trekker Tent 1A. I opened it up and set it up to air out. I am very pleased with the quality of materials. It is surprisingly spacious inside. I laid out my sleeping pad and crawled inside to survey from the inside. The large opening made it easy to get in and out of. I had plenty of room inside to move around. I used landscape pavers to tie the tent anchor points along with my trekking poles, and they held the tent firmly in place. On camping trips I will use trees and rocks to anchor this tent. That will reduce the weight in my pack even further. And the best thing about this tent is that it’s so freaking light. No tent poles or pegs to carry. I’m sure I will have many restful nights inside this tent. Thank you River Country Products.

Someone purchased this tent for me. The ridge loops leaked even after spraying and seem sealing. The tent stakes are light aluminum and bend and break easily. The zipper failed as well after just a few uses. The poles that they sold for this tent are a remarkable buy at @ 20$ and perform very well. I called them and let them know I was leaving on very long excursion and they said another tent would be shipped that weekend. It never came and had to leave with a hot mess of a tent.

First off, my order showed up in 7 days, which is much quicker than I thought it would. The tent is slightly shorter than I thought, but not enough to lose a star. I use a ridge line setup and the tent goes up inside of 8 minutes including the guy lines. Add a few more minutes to find suitable branches to guy out the awning. If I was setting up for inclement weather, I would add a tarp over the ridge line. It still comes in lighter than my previous tent.

Really like this tent! I’m 6’2″ tall and it’s plenty long with additional space for gear. It is small and relatively lightweight and would work well for a backpacking tent.
I personally used it for a DIY Roof Top Tent that I made because of the a-frame shape and the side entry. For the price, it works great and is the center of my design. The quality seems to be really high and the vented windows on the ends are nice to help with condensation.
Overall, I really like the tent!

I answered a cautious “YES” regarding waterproofness because hasn’t been rained on or sprayed with hose. After set-up I did my standard soak all seams in silicone treatment though. Received tent a couple of weeks back but due to workload I am just now getting around to looking at it.
Did my initial setup here behind house and went up super easy.
Since am not really a hiker but a spur of moment camper/hunter/fisherman- I like compact tents to throw in truck and leave there so that am ready at moments notice. Since am not a hiker I built my own collapsing custom fit poles from 11mm tent pole repair kits. And as I setup I replaced the day-glow orange cordage with heavier camo paracord that glow in dark. Love that stuff!
Am only 5-4 & 175 lbs so I have room inside for me and some gear. Would like to see a second storage pocket near door. Would think it will have adequate ventilation in “porch” mode and with a fire out front should be warm in colder temps. Can’t wait to get into the woods

This is an amazing little tent! Perfect for my multi-day trip into the North Cascades! So glad I stumbled on River Country Products. Keep in mind, this particular tent does not have a lot of head-space, but it was perfect for what I needed. The tent quality is the same as what I have come to expect from the bigger or more well known brands. Highly recommend this tent if you are looking for a light weight, well built tent

So i got this for a review i find that the tent holds its own very well had it in a rain storm and wind storm and it did great no leaks or anything the only thing is the condensation build up during the night there was quit a bit maybe a few other vents in the bottom area maybe but you get some condensation in single walled tents but there was a lot when i woke up the next morning other than that its a great tent love it

The zippered mesh screen door is great for keeping the bugs out, especially for those of us who like a tent that encloses us in. It is very well made and the design is good for stability. The literature said the poles should be set to 42 inches. The design of the tent seems to call for something closer to 3 feet. Pros: light weight, well designed, well made, good vents, screen zipper door. Cons: not much vertical room. Overall very pleased and strongly recommend for those interested in this style of tent.

I purchased the Trekker 1A tent as a lighter tent for backpacking and it is, even with the stakes! It appears to be very well made and I love the design which is what sold me on it. The only drawback so far is after sleeping in 40° weather I woke up to extreme condensation! So before I use it again I will try and use a waterproofing spray to lessen condensation as recommended in the instructions!

I purchased the Trekker 1A as a solo backpacking tent. Entry and exit are much easier through the side than a tent with entry at the ends. There is also plenty of space inside & packs down small and light. Ventilation is great! Overall, I think it’s a good tent for those wanting to lighten their load without a lot of cost. However, I would only recommend this as a good weather tent. I treated mine with the recommended spray but it leaked at the ridge where the loops/toggles are for the mesh/door. The seam was taped but still leaked from under the tape. I have seam sealed the ridge & around the floor. It does okay in a drizzle or light rain, but anything more and you will be wet.

I’ve purchased both the one man and the two man tents. Both are great quality, light, easy to put up, and roomy enough to also store your backpack. I would have given this five stars, but I prefer the door set up of the two man. Having the door on the slant of the roof means you have to set up the flap if there is any rain, mist, or dew – otherwise the door flap has to stay closed. With the two man, the door is on the end and, unless the rain is blowing, you can tie back the flaps and get some air. Also, stakes for the guy lines of the door flap do not come with it – so order two extra – in all likelihood you will have to set up the door flap at some point.

I bought the Trekker Tent IA from River Country products with the view to take it on overnight hikes in the wilderness areas in southwest Virginia. I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to someone who wants a solo tent of this sort. I have slept in it and found it very comfortable for sleeping (I am 6’1”). There is room for my fairly minimalist amount of gear. There is not much head room for sitting up, and clothing changes need to be done lying down if done in the tent.
